DO NOT FEED YOUR HEDGEHOG “HEDGEHOG FOOD”. The type of food marketed to hedgehogs is extremely bad for them. It is filled with fat and things that they shouldn't have such as seeds. A high quality cat or kitten food is typically recommended. You should choose a food that has an actual meat as one of the first five ingredients. You also want to try and make sure that the pieces are relatively small so they can chew them better. (This is why cat food is recommended over dog food) While we are looking at the bag of food you are buying you’ll also want to look at the nutrition information. The food should have a minimum of 30% protein and a maximum of 11% fat. It is also highly recommended that you do not feed fish-flavored cat foods. (There is no health issue associated with this but it supposedly makes their poop stink even worse). It is best to feed your hedgehog a mixture of a couple of different food brands. Companies change their recipes frequently, and too many changes can upset your hedgie's tummy.

The three foods we use and recommend are below:

-Wellness Complete Health

-Victor Mers Classic Feline

-Whole Earth Farms Chicken

You can buy as little as a 3 month supply of these foods on Chewy.com for about $40.00! Not bad!
